Rich earned an undergraduate degree in paralegal studies and immediately set his sights on a law degree from the SIU School of Law. Now a third-year law student, Rich does not regret his decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SIU School of Law makes getting a law degree affordable without graduating with a $100,000 in debt,\u201d he said. Rich also likes how the professors treat students. \u201cI have found the professors treat the students extremely well. They are here to help and not to humiliate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rich hopes people will give to the School of Law during this year\u2019s SIU Day of Giving. \u201cThere are several funds people could support, such as a student scholarship fund or moot court fund,\u201d said Rich.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1817\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.siuf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/law-Patricia-Pfeiffer-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.siuf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/law-Patricia-Pfeiffer-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.siuf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/law-Patricia-Pfeiffer-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.siuf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/law-Patricia-Pfeiffer-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.siuf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/law-Patricia-Pfeiffer-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.siuf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/law-Patricia-Pfeiffer.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Patricia Pfeiffer<br \/>\n<\/strong>Patricia Pfeiffer, a second-year law student and a Carbondale, Illinois native, appreciates the financial help she received from the School of Law Strategic Excellent Fund. \u201cAs a single parent of a 13-year-old and an 8-year-old, the scholarship I received really has made all the difference,\u201d said Pfeiffer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe financial support has lessened my student loan burden, helped pay for babysitters and overall helped me be a better parent and law school student,\u201d said Powell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember when I was presented with the scholarship, I looked over at my children and I could see their beaming faces. I\u2019m so glad I chose SIU because I\u2019ve grown to love this university and this school,\u201d he said. Powell would recommend the SIU School of Law to other students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSIU School of Law is very welcoming and warm. I also like that the student to professor ratio is low,\u201d said Powell. She received several scholarships to attend law school, one of which was the SIU Alumni Textbook Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat SIU Alumni Textbook Scholarship, along with others I received, helped me pay for the books I need and just eased my overall worry about my finances. I really appreciate the assistance I have received,\u201d she said.
